Three Types of Controls

Transcription
There are three different types of controls to mitigate risk. These include preventive, detective, and corrective. Toi show what these three categories mean, I’m going to give an example whenever it comes to physical security. Locks are a preventive control. Locks on your doors prevent intruders from entering the secure areas of your buildings. Next, we have videos. These are detective controls. Your video feed detects intruders that have come into the building. Finally, the corrective control in this scenario is filing a police report after a break-in or escorting the intruder out of the building. By using this example, it is fairly simple to understand the three different types of mitigating controls.
