Tips for Getting Started with Risk Assessment

When getting started on your risk assessment, first, you want to choose the methodology that will work best for your organization and decide whether or not you want to do a qualitative or quantitative risk assessment. From there, determine how you want to define likelihood and impact when scoring your risk. After that, you define the scope of your risk assessment itself, and start thinking about the data you’re protecting, your client and contractual obligations, and the type of business that you’re in. Once you’ve done these things, you’ve gotten a good start on the risk assessment itself.
